Hitting the Home Stretch at Work

College admissions is a crazy game. A wise man once said that college admissions is "the art of precision guesswork". With costs only getting higher, the anxiety families feel only adds to the anxiety admissions offices have this time of year. Enrollment deposits are coming in later and later every year. The picture above is from the information session I held in Detroit, MI for admitted students--over 100 people showed up. Students are putting off deciding until they get that last look over spring break. That brings us to this week. Over the past two days, I have met with 27 students and their families. And in the parents' eyes, their kid is the greatest thing to come along for higher education. It never fails to crack me up how the parent will continue to push her/his child's accomplishments on an admissions counselor even MONTHS AFTER the student has been admitted. As the Dean of Admissions says, "What a crazy way to make a living!"
